Welcome to the Chronicle System Guild
Welcome to the Chronicle System Guild, where you can create game supplements and adventures that are compatible with Sword Chronicle by Green Ronin Publishing, and make them available through DriveThruRPG.
The following information contains most everything you need to know to get started, so read everything closely! The more prepared you are when you embark on your journey as an Alliance member, the more successful you will be.
Remember, you are creating content that is compatible with Sword Chronicle by Green Ronin Publishing. You may use any of the game terms from these rulebooks, and short references to rules or stats are permissible.
However, copying large swaths of text or references, more than 30 or so words, we ask that you refer the reader to the appropriate core rulebook or supplement.
Product Types
You may publish the following through the Chronicle System Guild program:
- Adventures and Campaign Settings.
- Statistics and descriptions for Creatures and Non-Player Characters
- New Ancestries and Qualities.
- New Houses and forces using the Warfare rules in Sword Chronicle.
- New equipment, including magical items.
- New sorcery Arts, Works, rituals, and spells.
We are talking about expanding the kinds of product types allowed in the future, but at this time only the above are permissible.
You may NOT publish the following:
- Stand-alone games, or anything that does not require the Sword Chronicle core rulebook.
- Expansions to the Shattered Era setting in Sword Chronicle .
- Anything referring to the works of George R. R. Martin, N. K. Jemisin, the A Song of Ice and Fire Roleplaying Game , or the Fifth Season Roleplaying Game , or supplements for either game.
- Full replacements for existing Sword Chronicle game systems, such as character creation, combat, warfare, intrigue, or sorcery.
Media
The Chronicle System Guild is for roleplaying game materials only. It does not cover fiction except for short vignettes in an RPG work. It does not cover software or comics.
Art
No art can be used from Green Ronin publications.
AI Content Policy
Green Ronin follows DriveThru Marketplace Guidelines in regards to AI-Generated Writing, Editing, and Art.
Update March 24th, 2023: The following policy applies to DriveThru Marketplaces, including Community Content Programs and Supported Marketplaces. DriveThruRPG defines “AI-Generated art” as images created through the use of artificial intelligence algorithms and techniques trained on pre-existing data sets. (Examples: Midjourney, Artbreeder).
- At this time, DriveThru Marketplaces require partners to set their own AI-generated artwork policies on Game, Rulebook and Adventure products. Any products that utilize AI-generated artwork must be tagged as such.
- At this time, DriveThru Marketplaces do not accept standalone artwork products that utilize AI-generated art.
Titles that do not comply are subject to removal from the marketplace. Repeat offenders may have their publishing permissions revoked. A full statement of intent regarding our policy update can be found here.
Update July 19th, 2023: While we value innovation, starting on July 31st 2023, Roll20 and DriveThru Marketplaces will not accept commercial content primarily written by AI language generators. We acknowledge enforcement challenges, and trust in the goodwill of our partners to offer customers unique works based primarily on human creativity.
Creation Method Filter
If your Game, Rulebook or Adventure product contains AI-generated content, you are required to indicate this using the Creation Method filter. In order to enable this filter, find the Category Assignments section under Filters when you Set Up a New Title or Edit a Title Listing. Under Format near the bottom of the filters list, find the box labeled Creation Method. Click the black triangle and it'll expand the dropdown list, where you can then select AI-Generated.
Logos and Trade Dress
The Chronicle System Guild logo must appear on the cover of your work.
It must be discernible and legible at normal full-screen viewing size. You may not use the trade dress affiliated with the Sword Chronicle RPG, other Green Ronin titles, or the Green Ronin logo or the Chronicle System logo.
Required Assets and Language to Include in your Product
Cover Requirements:
- Your original primary logo or title graphic.
- Chronicle System Guild logo.
- The following text:

Credits and Acknowledgements Page:
You must include following text within your product, whether it is the first page, or in a place that you have listed other contributors, collaborators, and abt legal and copyright information.
Replace the bracketed texts in the copy below with Fantasy AGE or Modern AGE, depending on the setting you chose:

Neither your Work nor any advertising, promotions, press releases, or other documents affiliated with the Work may contain any claim that you or the Work has been sanctioned or approved by Green Ronin Publishing, or is affiliated with Green Ronin Publishing in any way, other than to acknowledge that the Work is produced and distributed as part of the Chronicle System Guild program.
