Rules

Your work can use any of the game system rules and game terms found in the current edition Traveller books published by Mongoose Publishing.

Settings

You are allowed to use the Traveller setting as presented in the current Traveller edition books published by Mongoose Publishing [https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/publisher/45/mongoose/category/24851/traveller] as well as any Mongoose-published book covering the official Charted Space setting (for example, Behind the Claw [https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/296789/behind-the-claw]).  This includes the names of all characters, species, and places and all gear, equipment and vessels; the capitalised names and original names of places, countries, creatures, geographic locations, historic events, items, ships, and organisations presented in those books.

To be clear, the setting of 2300AD is not open for use at this time.

Allowable Media

  • Roleplaying game materials only.
  • No fiction except short vignettes in an RPG work.
  • No software or comics.

Art

No art can be used from Mongoose publications (or any other Traveller publication). Art packs containing art that is allowed to be used in community content works have been made available by Mongoose to TAS creators on the TAS page.

There are many resources available here, most for free.

AI Content Policy

AI Art

We are concerned about the ethics of AI art and its impact on the livelihoods of artists, and the ability of artists to maintain control over use of their creations. Effective 23 June, 2025, AI Art (e.g. Midjourney, Dall-E, generated images, etc) is not permitted in new Mongoose community content titles, in the Traveller's Aid Society.

AI Content

While we value innovation, starting on July 31st 2023, Roll20 and DriveThru Marketplaces will not accept commercial content primarily written by AI language generators. We acknowledge enforcement challenges, and trust in the goodwill of our partners to offer customers unique works based primarily on human creativity.

Logos and Trade Dress

You are encouraged to use the TAS logo on the cover of your title.

If the cover of your title shares the trade dress of official Traveller titles, then the TAS logo must appear on your cover prominently enough to be discernible even at cover thumbnail size (the size of cover images as seen while browsing DriveThruRPG).

You may not use any other Traveller or Mongoose logo.

When publishing for Classic TAS, you must use the cover templates provided here. You are permitted to change the colour of the bands and the Traveller logo, and also the text labelled ‘Extended Title’ and ‘Main Title Here’.

You may not use Classic Traveller series titles (such as Book X, Supplement X, Adventure X, or Double Adventure X, etc), but may certainly create your own series for Classic Traveller!

Classic TAS

We have opened the TAS programme up to titles using the original Classic Traveller!
