We now offer a Guest Checkout option on our new site version (PHNX), allowing you to make purchases without creating a full account. This article explains what Guest Checkout is, how it works, and what limitations exist for Guest Accounts.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you use guest checkout, you MUST download your purchases from the order confirmation page. DO NOT close or navigate away from this page before downloading your purchases. If you don't download your purchases from that page, your will need to convert to a full account to access your download links again.
What is Guest Checkout?
- Guest Checkout allows you to complete a purchase by entering just an email address.
- This feature is available only on the new DriveThruRPG version of the site and not on the Legacy site (legacy.drivethrurpg.com).
- Guest users can check out and download files from the order confirmation page, but cannot access account features.
- If an entered email is already linked to a full account, users will be prompted to log in or reset their password.
How to Use Guest Checkout
- Navigate to www.drivethrurpg.com (new site).
- Add items to your cart and click Proceed to Checkout.
- In the login popup, click the green Continue to Checkout Guest button.
- Enter your email address and continue to checkout.
- Complete payment using credit card, PayPal, or account credit.
- After payment, you'll be directed to the Checkout Success page, where you can download your files.
Limitations of Guest Accounts
- Guest users cannot log into the Legacy site (legacy.drivethrurpg.com)
- Downloads are only available on the Checkout Success page—there is no ongoing access to a "My Library" section.
- Cannot leave reviews, join discussions, or report products.
- No saved payment methods or shipping addresses.
- No access to wishlists, product ownership banners, or bulk download tools.
- Account name is always "Guest Customer."
What Happens After Checkout?
- Guest users are automatically logged out if they leave the Checkout Success page.
- Any entered address info is deleted from the account but retained in the order history.
- Guest users can continue browsing the site but remain limited in actions and access.
How to Upgrade to a Full Account
If you’d like to access your order history or downloads later, you can convert your Guest Account to a full account:
- Go to our password reset tool.
- Enter the same email address used during Guest Checkout.
- Follow the instructions to set a password and log in.
Note: Resetting a password through our support team will not convert a Guest Account—you must use the password reset tool yourself.
